A £16 million leisure development in the heart of Bridgwater town centre will provide more than 12,000 sq ft of flexible restaurant space in four high quality restaurant units available to let to a mix of dining brands. The regeneration project is spearheaded and funded by Sedgemoor District Council.

Northgate Yard, Bridgwater, Somerset is due for completion in October 2022. The 40,000 sqft scheme has already secured anchor tenants, WTW Scott Cinemas and Allstars Bowling, providing a 7-screen cinema, 8-lane bowling alley and sports bar which will generate strong footfall throughout the day and evening. The development will also be supported with outside dining areas, meeting places and landscaping. The adjacent green space called Brewery Field will also be substantially improved and updated to feature an outdoor children’s play area, parkland with pond and landscaped planting with many new trees, shrubs and wildflowers.

The four restaurant units vary in size from 2,443 sqft to 3,488 sqft, each with substantial outdoor dining space in the landscaped grounds.

Doug Bamsey, Deputy Chief Executive of Sedgemoor District Council, says, “Northgate Yard is set to be a landmark destination for locals and tourists. This is a unique opportunity for local, regional and national food and drink brands to create high quality eating places for families and friends in a brand-new, town centre development.

He continues, “One of the stand-out things about this project is the huge amount of community support. This is a much wanted and needed development and we’re delighted there is such an eagerness for this project to come to fruition, delivering a first-class leisure and entertainment hub for the area.”
